Meet and greet at airport or hotel. Proceed for 30 minutes’ drive to Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre. The Orang Utan sanctuary is set in 4,500 hectares of beautiful virgin rainforest 25 km from Sandakan. Its conservation program was started in 1964 to help and rehabilitate Orang Utans which have been abandoned by their mothers, injured, or formerly in captivity to fend for themselves in the wild.

Visitors will be able to observe orphaned Orang Utan being taught how to climb and upon proceeding on to a platform, visitors will then be able to watch semi-wild Orang Utan come in from the further reaches of the forest for their twice-daily ration of milk and bananas. Visitors are not allowed to touch the animals inside the sanctuary, fearing the spread of diseases. After the viewing, depart for lunch at local restaurant.

Proceed for Sandakan city tour. Continue journey to Pu Jih Sih Chinese temple. Built in 1987, this temple is situated on a hilltop, provides visitors a magnificent view of Sandakan bay. After your visit here, city tour continues with a drive through downtown Sandakan streets (local market) heading to Sim Sim water village, a settlement established in 1879 where you can see till today houses built on stilts, still occupied by the local Chinese and Malay community.
